This course begins with an introduction to glacier travel and an overview of ice climbing techniques and equipment. Participants learn the proper use of crampons and ice axes, movement techniques on ice and balance control on steep frozen surfaces.
The training includes top-rope ice climbing, ice screw placement, basic protection methods and essential safety practices. Glacier safety, hazard awareness and risk management are also key components of this course. By the end of the program, participants gain confidence in climbing ice and develop a strong foundation for more technical ice routes.
